The White House has a Comment Line?!?

Do you want to let President Bush really know what you think about his policies?

Maybe give him a comment or two on the War in Iraq, Global Warming, Environmental Policy, the Stolen Election, High Gas Prices, the Economy, Inflation, Habeas Corpus…etc.

Well the White House has a comment line, and now its your turn to tell the president what’s on your mind.

They are ready for your call Monday through Friday 9am -5pm EST

Call (202) 456-1111 TODAY

I called and let the President know what I thought of his handling of our national affairs.  Its really simple, first its tell you that “due to high call volume your call may take longer the usual”  (I think if more people knew of this number the call volume would increase 100 fold).

After about 5-10 minutes a nice lady picks up (she sounded to be about in her seventies), she asks for your comment…she takes it down…asks where your from….tells you the president cares about what you think…and thanks you…

I hope he got my message!

The Plan for the Food Supply

As I plan which fruits and vegetables to grow in our three outdoor gardens, I wonder what has happened to this county.

There was a time when every American knew how to grow and harvest their own food supply.  But in the last century we turned in our garden gear, and picked up the microwave (along with a handful a chemicals in the process).  I have no problem with society changing and growing, but when it comes to the food supply industry, I think we many have all fallen for a dirty trick.  The comic below by Mike Adams and Dan Berger explains this concept pretty well.  To me the comic shows what happens when natural organic food goes out of style and processed toxic chemical food goes in.

Plan for the Food Supply

It is really something to think about.  Being raised in this easy as 1-2-3 pop it in the microwave lifestyle can sometimes give people the feeling that “How could their be anything wrong with processed food?  We’ve been eating it forever.”  Well no, NO we haven’t been eating it forever.  Up until the second half of the last century most people in the United States grew their own food.  Not that I’m saying we need to turn in our shopping carts for the pitch fork, but I do believe we need to become more aware of what is in our food and where it comes from.

Just a little food for thought.

Urban Myth Game contains massive redonkadankness

We wanted to game, a board game, a board game that wasn’t just moving pieces because the dice said “you now move (: .)…etc

Urban Myth was the game, we have no idea what we were in for…Thank you Wal-Mart

Here we go: All of the following are TRUE

Prostitution is legal in Denmark, but it is illegal to “walk like a prostitute” I immediately took note to stay away from Denmark, for I have been know to “walk like a prostitute”, again thank you Wal-mart.

The State Of Michigan threatened to fine a colony of beavers a whopping $10,000 for failing to remove their dam.  How many beavers do you know that just has $10,000 layin around?  I know not one.

beavers owe $10000 for failing to remove their dam

Unknown investors made millions of dollars by short selling stock in the United and American airlines in the days leading up to the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the US.  Doesn’t that seem a little funny? There are too many facts and “strange things” surrounding 9/11 to overlook.  Don’t believe everything you hear, big brother isn’t who you think he is, you will see what I mean in the future when everybody looks back on “the Bush Days” and says oops, I cant believe we fell for that shit, its already happening everywhere.   Did you vote for him thinking he was going to help “save the world”? Now look at the garbage he put us all through and tell me he has been a “great president”  I’m astonished there are still people out there thinking he has done a “great job”.  BLIND SHEEP, open your eyes, its all right in front of you.

9/11 unknown investors make millions

A beaver’s right to build a dam is enshrined in Connecticut state law.

Caucasians in Brazil were died blue before being executed to conform with laws prohibiting killing “white people”.  Gotta love human nature, there’s a loop hole for everything right? hmmm

beavers right to build dams

It is illegal to “kill or threaten” a butterfly in Pacific Grove, Ca.  Watch what you say to those lil buggers, you could find yourself with some issues very fast.

illegal to threaten a butterfly, don’t we have bettr thing to worry about?

A Tennessee court sentenced a 5 ton elephant to “hang by the neck until dead” for killing her keeper.  I think its only fair, an eye for an eye right? Do you think the elephant really premeditated the murder, wow.

Ya know that state Oklahoma?  Yea, the one that is completely land-locked? Well, It is illegal to hunt whales in land locked Oklahoma. Put away the spear guns and get back to livin in Oklahoma.

Urban Myth Tennesse Oklahoma

Oh and while we are talkin about Oklahoma, An Oklahoma City rapist was sentenced to 30,000 years behind bars – the longest sentence ever given to a prisoner.  Talk about punishment, yes the guy deserved to be punished, but i’d hate to be in that guys predicament.  Must be tough being in jail for 30 millenniums.

30000 years in jail, why not just kill the guy?

I think this game is ridiculous, there are way too many variables and countless ways to use the wide spread vocabulary we’ve created for contorting the truth.  That is opinion on the boardgame Urban Myth.

Oh where oh where are my Heineken World Bottles

Posted on March 22, 2008 by CoupleofMakers.
Categories: Green Movement, Now isn't this interesting, Random Thoughts.

If only the world bottle had been invented fifty years later, or someone had been paying attention. Why do beer bottles have the be designed for only one purpose. Although I must say the original purpose is not a bad one, but with a world so set on multi-tasking, why not also multi-task with our beer bottles.

According to data collected in 2004, each year 128.9 beer bottles are consumed per capita in the United States alone. The Heineken World Bottle made it possible to drink a finely brewed beverage while also collecting building materials. What a concept, I believe these green Heineken Bottles could green the world up a bit.

Heineken World Bottles

Here is a little History from Wikidepdia:

The Heineken WOBO (World Bottle)

As the story goes, Alfred Heineken had an epiphany while on a world tour of Heineken factories. When Heineken was on the Caribbean island of Curacao in 1960 he saw many bottles littering the beach because the island had no economic means of returning the bottles to the bottling plants from which they had come. He was also concerned with the lack of affordable building materials and the inadequate living conditions plaguing Curacao’s lower-class. Envisioning a solution for these problems, he found a dutch architect John Habraken to design what he called “a brink that holds beer.”

Over the next three years, the Heineken WOBO went through a design process. Some of the early designs were of interlocking and self-aligning bottles. The idea sprung from the belief that the need for mortar would add complexity and expense to the bottle wall’s simplicity and affordability. Some designs proved to be effective building materials but too heavy and slow-forming to be economically produced. Other designs were rejected by Heineken based on aesthetic preferences. In the end, the bottle that was selected was a compromise between the previous designs.

The bottle was designed to be interlocking, laid horizontally and bonded with cement mortar with a silicon additive. A 10 ft x 10 ft shack would take approximately 1,000 bottles to build. In 1963, 100,000 WOBO’s were produced in two sizes, 350 and 500 mm. This size difference was necessary in order to bond the bottles when building a wall, in the same way as a half brick is necessary when building with bricks. Unfortunately most of them are destroyed and no bottles are left. They are very rare and become a collectors item.

Only two WOBO structures exist and they are both on the Heineken estate in Noordwijk, near Amsterdam. The first was a small shed which had a corrugated iron roof and timber supports where the builder could not work out how to resolve the junction between necks and bases running in the same direction. Later, a timber double garage was renovated with WOBO siding. Alfred Heineken did not develop the WOBO concept further and the idea never got a chance to materialize.

I saw this last night on CurrentTv. The internet has made the study of humans expidentially grow in efficiency over a very short period of time. Thinking about life on this planet 50 years from now staggers the mind, the speed in which we have advanced so far compared to how fast it will have grown over just half a century, and the state of society as a whole by then is a thought that puts me in a realization of how much more there is to discover.

shrimp goes for a stroll….what?

So, we have this full fish tank set-up that we trash picked a while back and since then we’ve added a whole slew or plethora of fish….including shrimp, like the shrimp you eat but these are little guys.

img_4970.JPG

We also have a pleco catfish that we suspected was eating the shrimp, we were wrong.

The small object on the floor is a little bug catcher that is lined with adhesive.

img_4976.JPG

We checked the bug catcher today to see if we caught any of the 30 or so crickets that were set free in the apartment the other day, came home and the cricket cage was on its side, no idea how that was possible. Sixty crickets somehow pushed their own cage over. Imagine that……

img_4990.JPG

When we looked inside the bug catcher this is what we found……..

img_4981.JPG img_4985.JPG

yes you did just see a shrimp in that box right there. That shrimp traveled 4 feet, not shrimp feet, real feet, like the 12 inch type you find. The top of the tank looks like this:

img_4995.JPG

I never knew the power and curiosity of shrimp……
